A Year Later
I’m surprised it’s been a year already. So what has changed since I started this?
- Got hired Full Time.
- Almost got a minion (see intern)
- Quit my Full Time Job and became a freelance consultant.
- Developed www.YouAreU.org with a good friend of mine who designed it.
- Manage to discover errors in code I wrote and used for a while. Fixed Them Also.
- Got offered a Full Time job by a company which I was a consultant for and accepted it.
Okay, that was nice⦠Who The Font are you again?
My name is Adrian D. Alvarez and I view myself as a hybrid web designer and web developer. I now work at Touchstone Group as a Front End Web Designer.
While officially I’ve been with the company for under a month now, I was a consultant for about two months before joining them. I work with a team of eight and I believe I’m the youngest of the group. It’s been really enjoyable and a lot of fun. Still getting used to it all.
Previously I worked in a company which I quit - I enjoyed the people but the stress was too high and the environment was too negative. Overall, I’m a little ashamed of how much I let it affect me; being in a better work environment I realized how happy I am working at Touchstone and when I attended networking events and hear how much people hated where they currently worked and how they wanted and are looking for a new job. It was depressing, I didn’t want to hear about it - Talk about something else and then I noticed that I did the same thing prior to quitting my job and I did it afterwards for a while too.
It wasn’t until I got into a new job and became much more happier that I noticed it.
So if you’re in a job that you hate, don’t let it bring you down. Remain positive, avoid bringing it up in conversations, and best of luck finding the job you love.
